Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) and the John Adams Institute for Accelerator Science (JAI) signed a collaboration agreement on 17 May 2011.
The annual meeting of the JAI Advisory Board (AB) took place in Oxford on April 18-19 of 2011. The board, chaired by Dr. Ewart Blackmore (TRIUMF, Canada), reviewed the JAI scientific and training programmes and the plans for further developments of the Institute.
Accelerator physicists working on the recently funded SuperB accelerator in Italy have been collaborating with Diamond’s and JAI's accelerator physicists to test new techniques for low emittance tuning, which can potentially benefit both Diamond and the SuperB.
On October 6, 2010, a workshop titled "Opportunities from Accelerator Technology" was held in the JAI.
From September 14-17th, a team of Oxford Physics students (led by JAI final year DPhil student Suzie Sheehy) visited the British Science Festival to perform 16 shows about particle accelerators to 11-14 year old students.
