Dr. Hannah Wakeling has been appointed as one of the six IUPAP Accelerator Engagement Ambassadors of 2026 in this inaugural scheme that will support early career researchers in promoting engagement in the field of particle accelerators. This initiative was coordinated by the IUPAP’s Working Group 14 (Accelerator Science).
Alongside working on their projects, the ambassadors will be provided with seed funding of $1,000 to support their activities, and training opportunities, skill development workshops, and networking events.
Hannah will be developing a talk called “Accelerating Sustainability” which aims to provide information to the public on the intersection of environmental sustainability and particle accelerators, by highlighting key use cases in reducing impacts and by showcasing how researchers are working towards reducing the environmental impact of the accelerators themselves. She will also share her resources online for open use.
More information, including an interview with Hannah, can be found in this edition of Accelerating News.
