Congratulations to Ibrahim Najmudin for completing his JAI Summer internship at CERN.
My summer at CLEAR was spent gaining an appreciation for the practicalities of irradiation experiments, as well as a very hands-on introduction into robotics as I helped to develop the CLEAR-Robot 2.0. The robot is designed to handle many samples as they are irradiated by CLEAR’s high energy electron beam, in an efficient and reproducible manner. I was also fortunate to be involved in planning and designing aspects of scheduled experiments involving the existing C-Robot. This project has taught me about the level of detail required for a robot and its operation, and the broad range of complexities when dealing with moving electrical components such as linear stages and servomotors and controlling them in a user-friendly way. Overall, I am satisfied with the final product and very grateful for this invaluable opportunity.
