Corey Lehmann awarded the John Adams Prize

Congratulations to first-year graduate student Corey Lehmann, who has been awarded the John Adams Prize for outstanding performance in the first year! He now transfers to DPhil status and will continue his work on Beam Loss Monitors:

"Beam Loss Monitors (BLMs) have a lot of untapped potential for extracting useful diagnostic data. The unique patterns created across a set of BLMs can indicate a variety of different problems or changes in the state of the beam. By using machine learning techniques I'll be developing an anomaly detection tool which will identify when an abnormal pattern of losses is seen on the machine and suggest a probable cause. This system will be developed at Diamond Light Source in preparation for deployment with the Diamond-II upgrade."
