Seminar: Student Design Project

Seminar: Student Design Project

The first year JAI students will be presenting the work that they have done towards their first-year Design Project on Thursday 10th March 2022 at 11.00-12.00 UK time. The aim of this year’s Design Project is to prepare a study for the proposed Future Circular Collider electron-positron (FCC-ee) particle physics research facility. The seminar will be held online and can be accessed via this Zoom link.

The Student Design Project relates to a novel research infrastructure based on a high-luminosity electron-positron collider (FCC-ee) at the energy frontier to address open questions of modern particle physics. The FCC-ee would be a general instrument for the continued in-depth exploration of nature at the smallest scales, optimised to make precision measurements of the properties of the Higgs boson, as well as the Z and W bosons, the top quark and the Higgs coupling to the Z.

The student work concerns the FCC-ee and the investigation of its variousaccelerator components, focusing on the general lay-out, the lattice design, the choice of magnet technology and magnet design, and the RF system for acceleration.
